Valentine’s Day is just a few short days away! It’s always fun to add a little holiday themed activities into small group instruction and centers. These activities are especially fun for my kinder and first grade friends.
The Valentine Rhyme Matching activities are two of my favorite activities this time of year. The Valentine Rhyme activity contains 48 rhyming heart matches. You can differentiate this activity by choosing which and how many hearts to use.
Over the years I’ve developed file folder activities for early literacy and phonics skills. I just started creating activities for math. There’s a little bit of assembly involved on the front end, but once laminated, they last for years and years! The Valentine’s Day themed file folder activities contain templates for the numbers 1-20.
Many of my first grade kiddos are learning word families. This matching activity contains over 200 word family words printed on hearts for 21 common word families! Again, you’ll want to be sure to differentiate this activity by choosing which and how many word families to use during your teaching session.
The Valentine Alphabet Bear Match has certainly been a hit this week. The self-checking feature of this activity makes it perfect for independent centers! If you like this activity, you may also enjoy the Valentine Bear Rhyme Match activity.
I found some mini heart erasers at our local dollar store and thought they’d be ideal for a Valentine’s Day themed 10 frame activity. Just like the file folder activities as, once laminated, they can by used for years to come!
Hope you enjoyed our little Valentine’s Day activities round-up. Have a super fun Valentine’s Day with your students!
