Fun Hands-On Activity for Learning Letters and Sounds!

The self-checking feature of these clip-it cards for beginning sounds makes it a perfect activity for your literacy centers. Assembling the activity is super simple. Simply print the cards and place a sticker behind the pictures which begin with the same sound as the key word picture and letter and then laminate your cards. I like to jazz-up my clothespins by gluing a star and that’s it. Your students then clip the clothespins on the same beginning sound. When done, they just turn the card over and if the clothespins are covering the sticker their answers are correct. This activity add a little fine motor practice as well. When you download this activity you will receive 24 beginning sound cards!

Soccer Themed Sight Word Activities

Soccer is my game! I have so many fond memories of standing on the sidelines and watching my own children play. Having three children involved in the sport, it seems like we were always at the soccer field. My kids are all now in college and I sure miss those days.  Maybe not so much the grass-stained laundry, but certainly being outside watching my kids and their friends play a sport that they enjoy. Out of all the sports-themed activities, the soccer bundle is my favorite. Since many of my little friends play the sport, it’s certainly popular in center activities. Just for a storage idea, I used these file folder containers purchased at Office Max. All the file folder

Fun Fall Themed Math Center Activity!

The candy corn activities for rhyme, letters/sounds and vocabulary have been such a hit that I’ve had numerous requests to create the activity for math. Assembling the activity is super simple. Just print, laminate and cut the candy corns along the dotted line. You can easily differentiate this activity by choosing which and how many candy corn pieces to use. Some of my clever teacher friends added a self-checking feature. Before they placed the activity through the laminating machine, they put three matching stickers on each of the candy corn pieces for each number. After the students have created a candy corn with the numeral, 10-frame and word, they  they just turn the pieces over to see if the stickers match.

Spider Web Addition FREEBIE!

I was out shopping last week and popped into JoAnn Fabrics. I found these super adorable spider buttons. LOVE THEM! Just for my first grade friends I thought I’d make a spider addition activity for practicing addition. First you’ll need to laminate the template or place it in a dry erase pocket. You’ll then need dice and a dry erase marker. If you could find the plastic spiders, that’d be great, but if not there are other Halloween themed manipulatives that would work just as well. Have the student roll the die and then write the number in the square and count that number of spiders placing them on the web. After rolling a second time, writing the number and
