CVC Words BOOM Deck
Have you joined the BOOM Card revolution yet? I am officially hooked on Boom cards! I love creating the decks and I love how easy it is for teachers and students to use the decks. Although I prefer hands-on learning and direct teacher instruction, in the age of COVID, having digital options to teach and reinforce skills is critical- and that’s where BOOM cards come in.
What are Boom Cards?
So what exactly are Boom cards? Well, in a gist, Boom cards are digital, interactive task cards. The best part?- well, they are self-checking! That means once the student “submits” the answer, he/she is provided with instant feedback as to whether the answer is correct or incorrect. The program also tracks student progress data! Amazing. At a glance, the teacher can see how each student performed on the task.
In order to use these digital task cards, you will need a subscription to Boom Learning. There are several annual membership plans depending on how you’d like to use the Boom cards. You can join for free (limited number of students) or opt for the $35 a year membership where you can enroll 200 students and have the ability to create cards. There are also 2 membership plans in between – one for $15 and one for $25. Such a deal and there are literally decks and decks you can access.
In addition to a subscription, your students will need access to a device (tablet, computer, phone) and internet connection. You simply assign the deck(s) you want to your students, they log in and open the deck- that’s it. Super easy on both ends. Students can access the cards directly through the Boom Learning website or you can also assign the cards through Google Classroom, SeeSaw or other platforms.
Building CVC words Boom Deck
The Building CVC Words Boom Deck is one of the first decks I created. It’s the digital variation of our Cookie Sheet Activities. There are 20 CVC word building cards in this deck. For this activity, the student drag and drops the letters into the correct box. Just like our hands-on magnetic cookie sheet activities, the letters are color-coded- consonants are blue and vowels are red.
Here’s my little friend, Maverick, learning CVC words with this Boom Deck!
You can find these Boom cards (and all other Boom cards) on both the Boom Learning website and on Teachers Pay Teachers. When you purchase the Boom Cards on TpT you will download a pdf file that contains a link to the deck on Boom Learning. Simply click the link and follow the directions on Boom.
The Building CVC Words BOOM Cards are available for purchase in my online Teachers Pay Teachers store.
Oh, did I mention that Boom Cards can be assigned through Google Classroom, SeeSaw, and other platforms! If you haven’t yet jumped on the Boom bandwagon, now is the time! You just have to check them out.
