I can hardly walk through the seasonal section of any store lately without filling my cart with fun items to make games! My newest and greatest fun find are these cute little candy filled cupcakes I found at Walmart. They are really meant for filling Easter baskets, but will absolutely make the best ever memory game. There are a total of 28 little plastic cupcakes. Simply print the page on a full size label (Avery 48165), cut out the little rhyming stickers and place them on the bottom of the cupcakes. Your students will love this new twist on a favorite game.

Okay, as I am learning not all the Walmart stores carry the same items. So, if you cannot find the cute little plastic cupcakes, I have included printed memory cards. Print the stickers above and place them on the back of the cards. Click the following link for printed cupcakes. Cupcake Rhyming Cards
I’ve also heard that Target carries many of the same Easter items, so if can’t find the cupcakes at your local Walmart head on over to Target.

I love this game idea! I will head to Walmart as soon as possible to find the cute cupcakes. I tried to find the flower baskets in my Walmart and they did not have them! Bummed! But I managed to find some tin buckets with cute flowers on them, so I am using those instead. Thanks for the awesome game!

Thank you so much! I scoured Walmart yesterday for these and finally on the very last Easter isle I found about 4 boxes. Can’t wait to put them together! They also had some really cute bugs and robots!
Julie says
I saw the robots too and wasn’t sure I could put a sticker on the bottom. I must have missed the bugs- I’m going back to check!

Three Walmarts later and I found the cupcakes! No kidding…the last box. I was so excited! Anyway, I loved this idea and my kids just found the rhyming game to be a blast. Thanks! It was such a simple idea…wish I would (could) of thought of it! 🙂

I feel like I’ve sent a bazillion people out on a treasure hunt. Couldn’t believe how many of the cupcakes we had left at our Walmart. Glad you were able to find them.

What a great idea! I can’t wait to go to Wal-Mart! I’m going to have to make stickers that are more geared to 2nd graders, but still….AWESOME idea!
I have it set up to go out on my twitter, facebook and linkedin tomorrow!
Thanks for sharing!

LOOOOVE THIS!! I am trying to come up with a way to use them in math for 5th and 6th graders!
Julie says
Please share if you come up with a good idea for that age group.

I bought these cupcakes last year as well and found your post through Pinterest. I use these with cupcake trays for various math activities. I’ve filled them with coins, had the students count the coins and then they had to place the cupcake in the hole that was labeled with the matching amount. Also done the same type activity with different math equations (the problem inside the cupcake and the answers on stickers in the tray.)

I am very frustrated! I love your idea, and it has sparked my imagination for lots of other ideas, but I cannot find the cupcakes. They are adorable, and I will keep looking, but it is frustrating. They are not on Walmart.com either.
Julie says
Rebecca- I’ve been looking for those cupcakes this year too. That was I post and activity I did last year around this time. So sorry.

I have always wanted to do this activity, but I could never find the cupcakes. Well, today was my lucky day when I found the 28 in a bag at Goodwill! I’m going to print the pictures off now. Thanks for sharing with us!!
