Boo Cards are the BEST!. I love creating the decks and I love how easy it is for teachers and students to use the decks. Although I prefer hands-on learning and direct teacher instruction, in the age of COVID, having digital options to teach and reinforce skills is critical- and that’s where BOOM cards come in.
What are Boom Cards?
So what exactly are Boom cards? Well, in a gist, Boom cards are digital, interactive task cards. The best part?- well, they are self-checking! That means once the student “submits” the answer, he/she is provided with instant feedback as to whether the answer is correct or incorrect. The program also tracks student progress data! Amazing. At a glance, the teacher can see how each student performed on the task.
In order to use these digital task cards, you will need a subscription to Boom Learning. It’s super easy to sign up and well worth the minimal yearly subscription. I created two decks to target the phonics skill of reading consonant vowel consonant words. There are 20 digital task cards in the first deck. Students simply drag and drop the orange chip to the correct word.
The CVC Words Boom Deck is available in my Boom Learning Store as well as in my Teachers Pay Teachers store.
Here’s my little friend, Maverick, learning CVC words with the Building CVC Words Boom Deck! This deck requires the student to drag and drop letters to create the pictured word. Vowels and consonants are color coded and students choose from 2 vowels and 4 consonants to build the word.
You can find these Boom cards (and all other Boom cards) on both the Boom Learning website and on Teachers Pay Teachers. When you purchase the Boom Cards on TpT you will download a pdf file that contains a link to the deck on Boom Learning. Simply click the link and follow the directions on Boom.
The Building CVC Words deck is also available for purchase in my Boom Learning Store and through my Teachers Pay Teachers store.
Oh, did I mention that Boom Cards can be assigned through Google Classroom, SeeSaw, and other platforms! If you haven’t yet jumped on the Boom bandwagon, now is the time! You just have to check them out.
