One of the greatest benefits of social media is connecting with other educators from literally around the word. There is so much that we can share and learn from each other. I am so fortunate to be a part of the ITeach Kinder group started by Nicole & Eliceo (teachers from Mexico) earlier this year. It’s such a wonderful group of teachers dedicated to providing valuable information and resources. Nicole had a great idea for making it easier to share ideas and activities. We are now having monthly linky parties! The ITeach Kinder bloggers will all link up at the beginning of the month sharing their most favorite resources. Some resources may be seasonal in nature, others may be targeting a skill and there will be links to blog posts with just a great idea. This month I’m going to share one of my favorite activities for the month of December.
Up here in the great white north December means SNOW. Actually, we have snow often through the month of April. In our schools hats, boots, coats, snow pants, and mittens are often scattered throughout the halls or within the coat area of classrooms. Just getting ready for recess can be quite an ordeal. The Mitten Math activity has certainly been a hit within math centers during this time of year. Simply print the mittens and gather a few clothespins. Have your kiddos match the mittens by clipping them together. So simple. They’ll love it.
