I’ve been feeling like I’ve been neglecting my first and second grade teaching friends lately by posting bunches of early reading activities. When I purchased those cute little flower boxes at Walmart for the Springtime Vowel Sorting, I couldn’t help but pick up a few of those adorable frogs. I wasn’t sure what I was going to do with them at the time. So, thinking about what I can make for first grade, I came up with a consonant digraph sorting activity.

I love the colorful pictures that go with the sorting activity. Super cute boxes and spring frogs too! Would you be willing to make a set for long vowels/short vowels? Thanks for sharing!

What section of Walmart did you find these? I would love to know so I am not wandering with my five kids say “Just another minute I know these baskets are somewhere!” Thanks for the idea!

They were in the Easter section. At our Walmart, it was in the front of the store across from the pharmacy near the plastic eggs on a lower shelf. Good luck.

I think making the boxes at home would be a great hands on activity for the children. Looks like a good one for Dad (lol)

That’s a great idea.
