Oh…it’s summertime! It’s pretty important to keep our little ones engaged and there’s no better way to do that than to use games and activities. Here’s a fun little baseball-themed activity for practicing the Dolch 220 sight words. I love this game because it’s fast-paced and offers tons of opportunities for practice. To assemble this game, simply print the baseballs single-sided to double-sided and cut them out. Players take turns choosing baseballs and reading the words. Pick a “Home Run!” ball and the player can pick a few more balls, but choose the “You’re Out!” ball, and all the balls must be put back into the pile. Super easy to assemble and the kids absoulutely love it.
The Home Run! for the Dolch 220 sight words can be downloaded from my TpT store.
Here are a few more baseball-themed activities that I dug out from the Make, Take & Teach activity vault. Enjoy!
The addition game is a fun activity for practicing addition facts to 12. All you’ll need are the baseballs and 2 dice.

For our older children, the Vowel Team baseball-themed activity is likely to be a hit. You’ll need the 4 FREE printable game boards, a wooden block (1-2″ works great) and game markers. I found these little baseball erasers, but bingo chips will work great. On the wooden block write the following vowel teams on the sides: ee, ea, ai and oa and then 2 stars on the blank sides. Provide each student with a game board and have the students take turns rolling the block. If the student rolls an “ee” then he/she is to read an “ee” word on their board and then covers it up with a marker. The next student then takes a turn. The first player to cover the balls on the board wins the game.
